U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (R-CO) today applauded the U.S. Senate's inclusion of the Military Sex Offender Reporting Act as an amendment in the anti-trafficking bill that passed unanimously yesterday.

Coffman and U.S. Representative Jackie Speier (D-CA) introduced similar legislation in February in the House of Representatives, aimed at closing a loophole that allowed military sex offenders to avoid being placed on a sex offender registry.

"Closing this frightening loophole is critical to cracking down on sex offenders and I am glad the U.S. Senate has passed this important legislation," said Coffman. "I will fight to ensure this essential reform makes it into law."
